About

Klaudia Kazmierczak is a Polish-Swedish ceramic artist currently based in Amsterdam where she finished her bachelor degree in ceramics at Gerrit Rietveld Academie. Originally from Tychy, Poland, she grew up in Stockholm where she studied wood design and ceramics at Nyckelviksskolan. She has recently exhibited at Loods 6, Salon De Ijzerstaven, Vrij Paleis, De Roode Bioscoop, all located in Amsterdam.

In her practice, Klaudia is often working in a meditative way, where the technique and process is visible in the outcome. Her way of working is taking time to create detailed and repetitive patterns, creating delicate ceramic structures or experimental surfaces with other non ceramic materials. Materials that can replace glazing, add an extra layer of content and symbolics or contrast to the ceramic surfaces and esthetics.

Working with clay mainly and other materials she creates sculptural installations, worlds to step into where at first the objects seem quite obvious but looking closer more and more new materials and symbols come out to the surface. Her work, often inspired by the sea and patterns in nature is tinged with a sense of nostalgia reliving past memories and the mysterious places around the world, while questioning and commenting on the patterns and traces people leave behind in the nature, comparing raw nature to processed materials and the impact we have as humans.
